The well know hazelnut (Colylus avellana) grows well in climate zone 6 and 7.  In Ontario, they can be grown several counties including Essex, Kent, Elgin, Middlesex, Lambton, Oxford, Brant, Norfolk, Haldimand, Niagara, Hamilton, parts of Huron and along the north shore of Lake Ontario. 

Hazelnuts yield between 2000 and 4000 pounds per acre and prices range from about $2.00/lb for processing and up to $20.00/lb for fresh market.
